There are 15 county and independent public school districts throughout the nine-county One Knox region. With a majority of Fort Knox employees living in Meade and Hardin County, many of their children attend Hardin County Schools, Meade County Schools and Elizabethtown Independent Schools. Others attend schools in Nelson, Bullitt, LaRue, Grayson, Breckinridge, Washington, Marion and Jefferson counties. Regardless of which school your children attend, you'll find each has dedicated professional teachers and administrators striving to provide them the highest quality education.
Many of our students score above the national average on standardized tests, are national merit and governor scholars and go on to attend some the most elite colleges and universities in the nation.
Our schools also offer a variety of extracurricular activities. While each district varies, students are afforded a wealth of choices including academic teams, marching and concert band, basketball, football, soccer, track, tennis and much, much more.
