CONNECT at Bernheim is a nighttime collision of art, music, science and technology around Lake Nevin. Artists, scientists, naturalists, progressive thinkers and innocent bystanders unite in this celebration of creativity and technology-informed, infused and surrounded by nature.

CONNECT is Bernheim's grand invitation for all to experiment, play, dance and dream. One can participate in the madness or simply enjoy the sights and sounds.

Saturday, Sept. 11 5:52pm - 9:52pm (Two hours before and after sunset). Enter at the Sunset Amphitheatre on Lake Nevin.

CONNECT at Bernheim provides new perspectives on art, science, beauty and the world around us. At the first event last year, over 5,000 people came to see what CONNECT was all about (we weren't entirely sure ourselves!). Here's a taste of what happened at this "happening":

  • Ephemeral, fiery sculptures on the lake
  • A large-scale candle labyrinth, for viewing and traversing
  • An exploration of the transformative properties of matter
  • Video and light projections on water, trees and screens, including a human interpretation of insect rituals
  • Magical fairy dances and stories
  • Experimental music on the Sunset Amphitheatre stage and around the lake
  • A closer look at Jupiter, Saturn and the Milky Way
  • Impromptu, participatory art projects
  • Frog songs
  • Winking stars
  • A chance to think differently about the world and each other

CONNECT at Bernheim will be even bigger and better in 2010. BE THERE. Bring a friend or three. Better yet, be a part of CONNECT at Bernheim. Requests to participate are being accepted through Monday, September 7.

There is a suggested donation fee of $5 per person (funds provide support for Bernheim).

Enjoy beer from BBC, food from Jarfi's Bistro (including sushi and vegetarian selections) and eclectic music on the Sunset Amphitheatre stage as you make your discoveries and share an unforgettable evening with friends.

CONNECT at Bernheim is sponsored by Wilson and Muir Bank. Other supporters include these friends of Bernheim: Bluegrass Brewing Company, Great American Insurance Group, Heine Brothers Coffee, LEO Magazine, Salt River Electric and WFPK Radio Louisville.

WHEN: Saturday, September 11, 5:52 p.m. - 9:52 p.m.

WHO: Anyone interested in nature and creativity

WHERE: Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest, Lake Nevin; enter at Sunset Amphitheatre. Exit #112 off Highway I-65 South; 20 minutes from Louisville airport, Highway 245
