Meade County offers more river frontage than any other Kentucky county. The Ohio River borders the entire 56 mile northern border of Meade County. This combined with the forests in Meade County provides breathtaking views and plenty of fishing, hiking, and camping opportunities.

Agriculture is the largest industry in the Meade County area and provides the theme for the annual Meade County festival, which draws crowds from all surrounding counties. The Meade County festival offers plenty of contests, rides and exhibits for all ages.

Meade County was formed in 1824. It is located in the Pennyrile region of the state. The elevation in the county ranges from 383 to 1000 feet above sea level. In 2003, the county population was 27,619 in a land area of 308 square miles.

Brandenburg, the county seat of Meade County, is situated on the south bank of the Ohio River in north central Kentucky. Brandenburg is located 46 miles southwest of Louisville, Kentucky; 147 miles southwest of Cincinnati, Ohio; and 162 miles north of Nashville, Tennessee. In 2002, the city had a population of 2,147 persons.
